So here it is a day late.

First we have a video of Lord Christopher Monckton, who gave a presentation in St. Paul, MN on the subject of global warming and delivered a warning to Americans regarding the United Nations Climate Change Treaty that is scheduled to be signed in Copenhagen this December.
Next in case you missed the premiere of Not Evil Just Wrong Sunday night, you can read a couple of summaries - one from the Heritage Foundation:

And finally for the crazy side of Global Warming, aka Climate Change...

PM Gordon Brown said negotiators had 50 days to save the world from global warming and break the "impasse". He predicts "the UK faces a "catastrophe" of floods, droughts and killer heatwaves if world leaders fail to agree a deal on climate change. Read the entire article here:

With fish darting amongst them in a blue lagoon, the Maldivian president and his top team have staged an elaborate stunt to publicize climate change. Billed as the world's first underwater cabinet meeting, President Mohamed Nasheed and 11 ministers, decked in scuba gear, held a meeting 4m (13ft) underwater. During the question and answer period one journalist, Phelim McAleer, an Irish filmmaker asked Gore to address nine errors in his film identified by a British court in 2007, he stumbled and side stepped the question. When he attempted to push for an actual answer he was cut off and not allowed to finish.

McAleer's film "Not Evil, Just Wrong, The True Cost of Global Warming Hysteria" will be released on October 18th. Here is a synopsis from the press release for the film:

Global warming alarmists want Americans to believe that humans are killing theplanet. But Not Evil Just Wrong, a new documentary by Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney, proves that the only threats to America (and the rest of the world) are the flawed science and sky-is-falling rhetoric of Al Gore and his allies in environmental extremism.

The film warns Americans that their jobs, middle-class lifestyles and dreams for their children will be destroyed if the government rushes to judgment and imposes job-killing regulations on an economy already mired in recession.

Not Evil Just Wrong exposes the deceptions about global warming that scientists, politicians, educators and the media have been force-feeding the public for years, including fear-mongering about floods and dying polar bears. The documentary shows how environmentalists are pushing the same kind of anti-human propaganda that triggered a ban DDT and condemned millions of children to death by malaria, a story recounted in the documentary. Not Evil Just Wrong asks: Is carbon dioxide the new DDT and are we taking the same risks with our future?

I wonder if Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney will win a Nobel Prize for their efforts. Everyone else seems to be winning one.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6772542818959228510.post-23639154982718815222009-10-10T23:30:00.000-04:002009-10-10T23:30:55.871-04:00Bullets in Slow MotionThis is too cool not to post. I pray he goes far.

Some people see lemons and make lemonade. William Kamkwamba saw wind and made a windmill.

This might not seem like a mighty feat. But Kamkwamba, who grew up in Masitala, a tiny rural farming village off the grid in Malawi, was 14 years old in 2001 when he spotted a photo of a windmill in a U.S. textbook one day. He decided to make one, hacking together a contraption from strips of PVC pipe, rusty car and bicycle parts and blue gum trees.

Though he ultimately had big designs for his creation, all he really wanted to do initially was power a small bulb in his bedroom so he could stay up and read past sunset.

But one windmill has turned into three, which now generate enough electricity to light several bulbs in his family’s house, power radios and a TV, charge his neighbors’ cellphones and pump water for the village’s fields and household use.

Now 22, Kamkwamba wants to build windmills across Malawi and perhaps beyond. Next summer he also plans to construct a drilling machine to bore 40-meter holes for water and pumps. His aim is to help Africans become self-sufficient and resolve their problems without reliance on foreign aid.
From President Obama's weekly address:

As we move forward in the coming weeks, I understand that members of Congress from both parties will want to engage in a vigorous debate and contribute their own ideas. And I welcome those contributions. I welcome any sincere attempts to improve legislation before it reaches my desk. But what I will not accept are attempts to stall, or drag our feet. I will not accept partisan efforts to block reform at any cost.

He and the Democrats do not welcome any contributions that are not aligned with the plan that they are pushing. Where are solid clear cut amendments that eliminate funding for abortion? Where are the conscience clauses? Where is tort reform? Where is the amendment enabling insurance sales across state lines? (This actually falls within their constitutional powers of regulating interstate commerce.) Where are the myriad of other amendments that have been proposed? Neither the President nor the Democrats are interested in debate or contributions from the Republicans. Liar is the only response that really fits his words.

Instead, I expect us to move forward with a spirit of civility, a seriousness of purpose, and a willingness to compromise that characterizes our democratic process at its very best.

Civility? Joe Wilson was excoriated for shouting "You Lie" during the President's address to Congress and he was wrong for doing so. But when Alan Grayson says that Republicans want sick Americans to "die quickly" and likens the current health care system to the Holocaust, does Nancy Pelosi or any of the Democratic leadership denounce him? No!
Jennings received an A.B. in history from Harvard, an M.A. from the Columbia University Teachers College and an M.B.A. from NYU's Stern School of Business.
Its funny that they didn't mention some of his other experiences.
…a person who founded and ran an organization (GLSEN)where instructors had explicitly described to middle school youngsters how to perform homosexual sexual acts?
When you get into the legislative language, Senator Conrad actually read some of it, several pages of it, the other day and I don’t think anybody had a clue--including people who have served on this committee for decades--what he was talking about. So, legislative language is so arcane, so confusing, refers to other parts of the code—‘and after the first syllable insert the word X’--and it’s just, it really doesn’t make much sense.
We know what's best for you.We know what's best. First, we have Michigan.

State to mom: Stop baby-sitting neighbors' kids

Each day before the school bus comes to pick up the neighborhood's children, Lisa Snyder did a favor for three of her fellow moms, welcoming their children into her home for about an hour before they left for school.

Regulators who oversee child care, however, don't see it as charity. Days after the start of the new school year, Snyder received a letter from the Michigan Department of Human Services warning her that if she continued, she'd be violating a law aimed at the operators of unlicensed day care centers.

We can't have neighbors helping each other; that's the government's job. I knew Detroit was messed up, but I had hope for the rest of the state. I was wrong.

Second, we have New York.

School district could backpedal on policy

Seventh-grader Adam Marino is getting a firsthand lesson in civil disobedience.

The 12-year-old and his mother, Janette Kaddo Marino, are defying Saratoga Springs school policy by biking to Maple Avenue Middle School on Route 9. The Jackson Street residents pedal more than four miles together each way to the middle school on nice days despite being told not to by school officials and police.

I applaud this Mother for standing up against an out of control system and teaching her son to do the same. The country could use more of this sort of parenting.

The biking debate started last spring, when school district officials told Kaddo Marino that Adam was violating school rules by biking to class. Walking to the school also is not permitted.

Kids getting exercise and fresh air. What is the world coming to? Before you know it they will be eating vegetables. We have to nip it in the bud!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6772542818959228510.post-80641658428587999392009-09-30T21:16:00.001-04:002009-10-03T22:14:20.000-04:00Listen to overpaid celebritiesIf you haven't seen the health care ad sponsored by MoveOn.org with Will Ferrell and other celebrities, don't bother. Watch this one instead. Its actually funny.

I don't know who put this together, but they did an excellent job.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6772542818959228510.post-15988924169088209962009-09-29T22:37:00.000-04:002009-09-29T22:37:11.106-04:00Porn surfing rampant at U.S. science foundationThis is another story that for which this blog was titled. We, the American taxpayer, are paying the salaries of folks at the National Science Foundation who spend their days surfing porn sites on the web. It's not just a few isolated incidents, but there are so many perverts there that...

they swamped the agency's inspector general and forced the internal watchdog to cut back on its primary mission of investigating grant fraud and recovering misspent tax dollars.

This is the National Science Foundation we are talking about. Hasn't anyone there heard of blocks or filters. There cannot be any business reason to visit these sites, but according to one individual there are humanitarian reasons.

For instance, one senior executive spent at least 331 days looking at pornography on his government computer and chatting online with nude or partially clad women without being detected, the records show.

When finally caught, the NSF official retired. He even offered, among other explanations, a humanitarian defense, suggesting that he frequented the porn sites to provide a living to the poor overseas women. Investigators put the cost to taxpayers of the senior official's porn surfing at between $13,800 and about $58,000.

"He explained that these young women are from poor countries and need to make money to help their parents and this site helps them do that," investigators wrote in a memo.

331 DAYS!?!? At least it appears he took some vacation time. Humanitarian work can be so stressful.

If Congress and President Obama want to fix something, let them start with crap like this. If it were me and I was caught looking at porn while at work, I would be walked to the door without a word. And I should be. Zero tolerance.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6772542818959228510.post-83593791722906769202009-09-29T22:12:00.001-04:002009-10-03T22:15:06.014-04:00Release Roman Polanski.....into a room filled with fathers of teenage girls. And just to make it interesting, we'll give the fathers baseball bats.

I wasn't going to post on the Polanski arrest because it brings out a side of me that asks for vengeance not necessarily justice, hence the opening to this post. Vengeance arises from emotion and justice proceeds from reason. The Polanski arrest pushes those emotional buttons. That being said, the bastard needs to be brought before a court in the United States and face the charges he ran from.

The statements coming from the some of Hollywood crowd are abhorrent for example, Whoopi Goldberg: "It wasn't rape-rape..." From this description, IT WAS RAPE. (Caution, very graphic.) The women of the View should be ashamed of themselves.

Father Thomas J. Reese, S.J. has an interesting Op Ed asking what would be said if it was Father Polanski the priest instead of Roman Polanski the artist.

The outcry would be universal. Victim groups would demand the award be withdrawn and that the organization apologize. Religion reporters would be on the case with the encouragement of their editors. Editorial writers and columnist would denounce the knights as another example of the insensitivity of the Catholic Church to sexual abuse.
This is just more of the double standards that we see today. When a crucifix in a jar of urine is considered art, why would we expect Hollywood to stand against a rapist. I think Father Reese sums it up best.
Entertainment is the new religion with sex, violence and money the new Trinity. The directors and stars are worshiped and quickly forgiven for any infraction...
